Straight Outta Compton and the Impact of Niggas With Attitude

The biopic of the iconic gangster rap group NWA (Niggas With Attitude) premiered this week to much fanfare and success thanks to a great viral marketing campaign and a fond nostalgic look for early 90s rap music and Hip-Hop culture, though I am reluctant to consider anything NWA did socially in Hip-Hop a part of the culture. And after 20 years and the benefit of hindsight, theres only one conclusion one can draw from the impact of the group's existence...

I'm GLAD hitchBot got killed. Yeah, I said it!!

At first I felt kind of felt bad that the thing got destroyed but then I read this and I didn't feel bad anymore:

The Canadian researchers who created hitchBOT as a social experiment. The kid-size robot set out to travel cross-country after successfully hitchhiking across Canada in 26 days last year and parts of Europe. It's immobile on its own, relying on the kindness of strangers. Those who picked it up often passed it to other travelers or left it where others might notice it.

With the robot destroyed, Zeller said, she was most concerned about children who loved hitchBOT and followed it on social media. Her team doesn't plan to release the last photo of it to protect young fans who might be distraught.

They said they don't know who destroyed it or why.

THATS WHAT CAN HAPPEN WHEN YOU HITCHHIKE!! Its called STRANGER DANGER and kids should understand that not everyone they meet will have good intentions for them.

The researchers aren't going to show kids the destroyed robot because they may be distraught??? They SHOULD show it to them as a lesson of what can happen when you hitchhike. Its potentially dangerous!! When I was a kid in the 70s and 80s they had a whole national campaign about not hitchhiking including short films during health class, afterschool specials and let's not forget those "on a very special episode of"...Diff'rent Strokes, Facts of Life, Eight is Enough, CHiPs whatever prime time family show there was back then and they would drill it into our heads that getting in cars with strangers was NOT A GOOD IDEA.

Now you have "researchers" doing social experiments and sharing the info with kids in an effort to prove what...that hitchhiking is fun and cool and you get to see many neat places and have great experiences kids so when the mood hits you don't be afraid to get in that car with the sweaty guy with the twitchy eye travelling to Albuquerque 'cause chances are he's just going to the comic-con there and he might take you!

The thing ended up destroyed and torn apart but lets not show the children that because it may upset them.

What. The. Fuck.

That is just an example of the pussification of this young generation. Lets show them the good stuff but not the bad stuff that can happen in life because it may make them sad.

I'm Glad hitchBot got's dismemberment was a great public service.
